VISC 204: There's a Moose Loose in My Sketchbook

Our first project for VISC 204 focuses on representing data through icons, index, and symbol. Tad Carpenter, my professor for this class, told us to pick an animal that we would want to focus on for the next 2 months. I settled on the moose. They are beautifully huge and harmless creatures with a fearless personality and antlers. Seriously, antlers are so awesome. I wish humans came equipped with them.

Getting back on topic, our first assignment was to learn all we could about our animal of choice and then mind map (as all of you know, I'm a HUGE fan of that) and brainstorm. Our goal was basically to generate any and all ideas. Here are a couple quick scans of my sketchbook (which is starting to fall apart...oh dear).

From there, with a bit of spare time I had left, I began to do some quick sketching. The moose has a great face already and I'm really looking forward to experimenting with that, along with those awesome antlers, in future sketch assignments. Here goes nothing.
