Working in the Shop Rehashes Some Good Memories.

And with the conclusion of the cardboard chair, I have begun yet another beautiful design project. This time the challenge is a vessel made from wood. I have to admit, when I first heard word of this up and coming project, I shook in my shoes a tad bit.

Thinking about woodworking brought me back to the good old days of senior year and Engineering Problems with Mr. Dan Drexler. It was that class, where I was fully immersed in the ins and outs of wood working. It was the trebuchet project that really did me in. Me, along with my best friend and two other kids, were to work together to build a structure that would fling a single egg at a target. Three of us had absolutely no experience with saw and drills and screws and wood so we were forced to be quick learners of it all. But we worked hard and we ended up placing second at the city-wide competition. How's that for two girls and some newbies?

For some kicks, I looked back through the pictures from our process...

 Ben was the only one with previous wood working experience. He still managed to strip quite a few screws however making me think he wasn't completely confident in his self-proclaimed skills.

 Parth was a genius but had a lot of conflicts with the world cricket tournament playing the same time as our work in the shop.

That 2nd place medal is one of the most treasured awards I own.
