Advocacy Posters: Moving Towards the Design Process (Finally)

Advocacy posters for VISCOM 402 are also coming along. After writing three separate papers, we are finally moving forward into the design process! A couple of the first steps were developing headlines, moodboards, color palettes, & imagery that we could get inspired from.

Pinterest, believe it or not is a great way to get your inspiration together, here's a link to the board I made for this project: http://pinterest.com/k583w822/advocacy-poster-inspiration/

From there, I developed a couple of moodboards with colors, imagery, and typeface I liked and would potentially want to use on my poster.
Headlines were the next task. As a designer, it's a double whammy if you can design but also write like a boss. And while I'm no where near boss status when it comes to writing, here are a couple of the headlines I developed for Heifer International (the bolded ones are the 3 that I ended up going with for the next step of the process).

  • Give MOOre
  • MOOve Over Hunger
  • Families Helping Families
  • Gifts that Grow
  • Two by Two, We Can End Hunger
  • EIEI-No? // Even Old McDonald is Excited
  • Forever Full
And from there, after building project + solution + action body copy, we started developing concepts based on the 3 successful headers that we chose. We have 25 concepts due for tomorrow and here are the ones I deemed most successful. Moving into Wednesday, we're picking 2-3 of those posters and doing 8 variations each.
